Mellen JV won 25-10 and 25-14. Our serving was excellent tonight. The girls continue to work hard and improve each and every match. Brenna Nortunen led the team in service points. Braelyn Heino also chipped in 8 service points.
Mellen Varsity lost in 4 sets: 25-19, 23-25, 22-25, 22-25. We knew going into tonight's match that it was going to be a battle, and it was. Both teams played extremely hard, but unfortunately we came up short tonight. Our serve receive was off tonight, and it's extremely difficult to get any sort of offense going when we are out of system 90% of the time. This loss stings, but we will use this loss and grow from it. Britta Josephson led the team in total attacks added 13 kills. She also chipped in 5 aces. Ava Jokinen hustled everywhere on the court tonight. Despite our poor passing, Ava had 17 assists. Jordyn Majeski also had a solid game all around.

"I couldn't be more proud of the girls. We had a good game plan coming into tonight's match. The team showed a lot of GRIT especially in the 4th game down 12-21. Ava Jokinen served 10 straight points to take the lead 22-21. The girls didn't give up, they made some big plays, and in the end their hard work paid off." - Coach LaRose
Stat leaders: Ava Jokinen with 22 assists , Britta Josephson 11 kills, Jordyn Majeski with 11 digs and 12 service points, and Kadence Beeksma also added 12 digs. Ellie Peters and Olivia Stricker had strong net play.
