🎖️What a great way to end the middle school volleyball season! The Blue Team went 7-1 in pool play. The girls came out strong against Ironwood and won 25-8, 25-10. The team faced Mercer in the next round and ended up dropping the first set 21-25, but the team stormed back in the 2nd set, winning 25-15. In the next round, the Diggers played against Hurley Orange. There was a lot of great back and forth play between both teams, but Mellen came away with the victory 25-21 and 27-25. Hurley Black and Mellen faced off in the last round. The winner of the two sets would be the tournament champion. Mellen won the first set 25-10 and took the second set 25-18 to be crowned Mercer Tournament Champions.
The White team was split into two groups for the tournament. The Mellen White team came in second place for the tournament. The team split sets with the Mellen Blue group and Hurley, and won 2 sets against Mercer and Ironwood.
Great season ladies. Coach and I are very proud of all of you! The future is bright! 💙🏐

It was a great weekend at Lake DuBay for our Ice Fishing team! 🐟Ryan Henri caught an 11 inch perch which was the largest perch of the entire tournament. There were 412 perch caught and registered. 🐟Wyatt Deering caught a 12 inch crappie which was tied for the 13th largest crappie of the whole tournament out of 757 that were caught and registered. 🐟Bryce Maier caught over 53 inches of walleye which greatly contributed to the team total of 135 inches.

On February 7th the Blue team participated in the Butternut Volleyball Tournament. The team went 5-1 in pool play, taking first in their pool with Butternut, Bayfield, and South Shore. Mellen faced Chequamegon in the first round of playoffs. The Granite Diggers won 2 out of 3 to advance to the championship match. Bayfield ended up beating Solon Springs in 3 sets to also advance to the championship match. The Diggers took the first set 25-14 but lost the 2nd. In the third set, Mellen was down 8-11 but came back and won 15-13. Great games ladies
